What AR should my son buy?
As many of you know I’m not up on such guns. He wants an AR platform in .308 and desires an accurate set up with a good scope.
He has about $3,000 to spend max.
Bear in mind he’s like me as far as not being into tactical crap hanging all over the rifle; just bare bones long barreled AR in .308 for shots out to 500 yards max.
It will be used as main carry rifle in Alaskan wilderness areas.
Since I don’t know about these rifles could you folks advise me on best answer?
Thanks!
Buy Armalite, not DPMS.

---The reason I point you toward Armalite over DPMS is Armalite offers chrome lined barrels and other small improvements that will stand up better to a harsh climate/coastal climate/hard use. In MN the weather occasionally drops to -30 F without windchill, I can't say I've ever had a problem with an AR feeding as long as the bolt carrier was properly lubed.
