What to do in the case of a home invasion?
I'm looking for someone who is knowledgeable in the field of home and self defense. If people invaded your home, what should you do. For example, say you have a assault rifle in the basement that can be used but the keys to the safe are in the kitchen. Do you grab a sharp object, or a knife and sneak up and attack, or do you hide. Or do you beg them not to kill you. Or do you keep a tactical shotgun under your bed? I'm a bit paranoid, but it's useful to know.
Preventive measures are the best means to thwart crime and home invasions. If they catch you by complete surprise by kicking in your door, there isn't much you can do. You need to have more than one layer of security. One layer would be just your front / back door. Anything that you could do to slow down, alert you, and make your residence harder and more noisy to break into helps. For instance you could have a chain link fence around the exterior of your house. Then have a few motion sensors or your dog outside to alert you. Then a sturdy front and back door with a peep hole. Then possibly a security alarm. Measures like these will make a criminal target an easier house, and if a criminal does hit your home, you will have time to get ready. Much of this depends on your assessment of your risk of something like this happening. Try not to go overboard. I just have several motion sensors and sturdy doors.
