What is a good alternative to the AR 15 and AK?
I'm looking for an AFFORDABLE assault rifle, but I do not want an AR 15 or an AK 47.
Things I need to meet my standards:
Reliability (I want at least as good as AR, preferably better)
Ease of Maintenance (Fieldstrip should be easy and hopefully tool free)
Durability (I'll probably bang it up pretty bad and put quite a few rounds through it)
Capability of adding accessories (Rails for foregrip, tac light, and scope mount)
Value!!! (For every dollar I spend I want the most I can get in return)

I'd try out an SL-8-1. Civilian version of the G36, which has a reputation of being more reliable than it's M16 counterpart. Plenty of rails for accessories. Still won't match an AK for durability but then nothing will.
Or you might try an HK91. Lovely piece of kit, but a bit pricey. Deadly accurate, built to last.
P.S. Don't get a SIG, they weren't designed for NATO rounds and the last minute re-chambered design doesn't give nearly the same performance as the originals.
