Is it safe to keep wild mice?
i have mice in my room/attic and my dad used to keep them for the winter because he uses live traps and he let them go in the summer, anyways my parents are divorced and my mom hates rodents and i have caught live mice in the sumer and i was wondering if i caght one or two if i could keep them for the rest of the winter.(i wount touch them at all) do you think it is safe?...do you think hand sanatizer would get rid of all bacteria fro ceanin the cage?
Not a good idea! Wild mice are not like the cute little critters you can purchase in the pet store. Wild mice (all species) carry parasites and diseases that can be deadly, like hanta virus and plague. I know that this sounds horrible, but wild mice that get into the house should be killed immediately upon discovery! If you allow them to stay, or you live-catch them for later release, you are endangering yourself and all the people and pets in your home.
And don't just take them outside and let them go - they will be back in your house before you are!
