which is a better air rifle scope, 3-9x40mm or a 4x32?
hi, im looking at three air rifles..they are all matched with the same power but have differant scopes.
the gamo varmint hunter combo has a 4x32 precision scope.
the gamo viper has a 3-9x40mm illuminated reticle scope
and the Remington® Genesis Air Rifle Combo has a 3-9x40mm scope with positive-click target turrets, adjustable AO and Mil-Dot reticle.
what is the best scope for differant ranges of accuracy... thanks!

thanks alot ill choose you as best awnser but i have to wate 4 hours before it will let me lol
All of these scopes will allow target acquisition beyond the effective range of the gun, especially if you are shooting for rodents. Generally, a larger objective will give you a brighter picture with higher clarity. Also, I believe it is foolish to stick yourself with a fixed power scope for anything but strict target shooting. everything else is too dynamic and you would struggle with the fixed power for close or moving shots. So that eliminates the Gamo Hunter. I also believe that the target turrets and mildot reticle, while nice, have no place on an air rifle. No one dopes shots for these guns. If you are shooting targets beyond 100yds then they are not going to be living, so you can take the time to adjust your turrets with a tool, or by removing the cap. The adjustable power is nice for scanning fields and trees for birds and such, allowing you to dial it up when you do find your target or back it out for close up shots or moving target acquisition. I guess I would place the optics in the following order:
3-9x40 ill. reticle
3-9x40 mil-dot
4x32
