How safe is Patong Beach? I'm from Singapore and will be going there in a few days.?
I know when I was in Europe, petty theft and snatch theft was a huge problem. I plan to do alot of walking around on Patong Beach. Should I carry my cash in a waist pouch, a normal bag or a sling bag? Pls advise. Would appreciate advise from those who've been there as tourists as well. Thanks!
As a traveler, it is always good to play safe and be street smart. You do not want to carry expensive things around with you, nor would you want to flash too much cash around. You never know who might be watching. In popular tourist spots, it is not only the locals who may be a threat, even foreigners go to such places to target fellow tourists as long as they can find easy target, which you will not want to be one.
In Phuket, an ATM card will do nicely for withdrawing cash. ATM machines are plentiful and easily available. Check with your bank on their charges for drawing cash overseas. Some allow you to do so for free.
