What are some good ways to control over-eating?
I eat healthy (or at least try to), although when I'm hungry, I over-eat. Basically, when I snack, I snack healthy. But when I start snacking, I can't stop. 1 apple turns to 2 1/2. A bowl of whole wheat chips turn into the whole bag. It's summer break, and I'm bored most of the time, and I don't want to spend it gaining belly fat!
My sincerest pleases and thank yous are sent toward all of you.
Oh, I do understand this situation, I've had a couple of days like this myself and like you said, it's from sheer boredom! Here's some tricks that I use to help me tackle those days:
Putting your snacks on a smaller plate or container and eat only what you portion out. A full plate will mentally tell you that you're eating a lot, when possibly, you're not.
Eat Foods that fill you up, fiber and veggies always do the trick and are healthier for you. Have you ever eaten a plate full of veggies? It seriously fills you up!
Don't grab the dip! If you're going to have those chips, at least forget the dip..........you've won half the battle and you will eat less because, well chips and dip can go down pretty fast, but just chips? they don't go down as well without their loving partner!
A glass of milk, water, juice will fill you up before you eat, so you don't consume that much.
Bored? Have a plan for something to do each day......even if it's just to go to somewhere simple, it will get you motivated to get ready and out of the house!!! Sometimes a simple house call to a friend can pass by 2 hours without even noticing the time, all the while you aren't eating!
I'm concerned with your healthy snacking though and why your body needs more, maybe a more balanced diet is what you need, a bit of fat is OK, maybe a small glass of flavored milk, a touch of honey on those baked nuts? Maybe some flavored Whole Wheat Chips, a little Peanut Butter with that apple..........just some thoughts here.
Anyways, I sincerely hope some of these suggestions help you out today, to get active and out of the house! But, enjoy your muchly deserved summer break !
