How do i know what rings to get for my scope/gun?
I have a .22 caliber Savage Mark II-G rifle and I mounted some Weaver "24" bases onto it (the barrel did not have grooves on it for direct ring attachment.
Anyways, I have the bases, but now I don't know what rings to get. The scope is Nikon Prostaff 4x32. I certainly don't need anything fancy as I'm beginner.
(this is my first gun, I only use it for target shooting at the range right now but eventually want to hunt rabbits with it)
There wasn't a single gun shop that had the bases I needed in stock, so I had to buy them from Weaver online for a ridiculous $20. Will I need to get compatible rings from them as well or does Walmart have what I need?
Do all rings have the same size hole?
Its not the rings the gunshops didn't have, its the Weaver "24" part...the base.
Walmart should definitely have rings that will work in a limited variety. With a 32mm objective Nikon, you should be able to fit it with some 1in lows which you may end up having to go to a shop to find. The lower you get your scope to the barrel, the better. Almost every maker of rings makes a weaver style and with a .22 lr, both steel leupold $40 rings and $10 aluminum weavers will work.
