How do I go to school with a sprained wrist? 10 points!?
ok, i just sprained my wrist by roller skating yesterday and tomorrow I have to go to school! do you have to get a pass from the nurse to not write? cuz it hurts when i move my hand. i cant pick up a pencil either! what do i do? most of my day is carrying heavy binders and writing long reports. I can't go to the doctors because I don't have any insurance. i put a brace on it and everything. what if my teachers dont believe me?!?! my wrist hurts sooo bad!!! help!!!!!!!
As suggested above, if you can't have a doctor's note get a parent's note to take to the nurse...
Get a friend to take notes for you in class and get copies of them after school.
a brace is good, but you might want to wrap it with 1 or 2 ace wraps so that you can wrap farther up your forearm and also wrap your hand so you can't move your wrist.. kind of like a short arm cast. this will help minimize the movement of your arm muscles... if you can wrap it good enough you might be able to write slowly.... carry your binders/books in a backpack and get a friend to help
For healing: Ibprophen for swelling along with a dose of tylenol for pain. Use Ice for the first 48 hours and keep it higher than your heart when you can to reduce swelling. try freezing water in small paper cups and massaging your wrist lightly and to help speed recovery make sure you move it and stretch it as tolerated. once the swelling goes down use heat and increase the stretching and movement.
I'm currently casted for a broken wrist and go to college and have to run 3 days a week and stuff so i know how you feel.
